Your smile is a big part of your confidence, and for many people, veneers can be life-changing. They can transform the appearance of your teeth in just two weeks! This quick and effective cosmetic procedure is often called “instant orthodontics.” Plus, this solution is relatively painless and long-lasting, which is why it’s so popular.

So, what are veneers, and what’s the process like? We’ll cover everything you need to know when getting your new smile – from start to finish.

What Are the Steps for Veneers?

1. Planning
Our doctors create models using photographs, a dental health scan and digital X-rays to create the perfect blueprint. Should you choose to take your prospective smile for a test drive, we will send this data to our Digital Smile Design planning center in Madrid. This approach not only gives you an idea of how your new smile will look, but allows you to have a say in the overall appearance from the color to the shape, placement, and size.
2. Temporary Solution
During the first consultation, you will approve the design, and we’ll gently prepare your teeth. Then we’ll apply temporary veneers, which you’ll wear for about two weeks. This gives you a chance to get used to your new smile and make any final adjustments.
3. Permanent Veneers
Now, it’s time for your third consultation. By this stage, your porcelain veneers (ultra-thin porcelain shells) will have been specially customized to craft your stunning new smile. These shells will be bonded to your original teeth.
4. Adjustments
During the final stage, you’ll have minor adjustments to ensure your bite and final polish fit your overall vision. Then you’re ready to show off those dazzling pearly whites!

Is the Veneer Procedure Painful?

No, the veneer process is not painful. You’ll get a general anesthetic during the procedure. If the veneers are placed below the gum line, you may be sedated as the area is more sensitive. You may experience minor pain for a maximum of a day or two, which can easily be treated with over-the-counter medicine.

What Happens to the Teeth Under Veneers?

A thin layer of enamel is removed from each tooth to create enough space for the veneers. This also allows them to bond properly. Ultimately, your original teeth serve as a foundation for your veneers.
