We know it’s not always easy for you to sort through the complicated possibilities. Our Shoreline dentists’ background in restorative dentistry allow them to develop solutions for every scenario.
Not many years ago, losing a tooth left you with few options for replacement. While permanent teeth should provide a lifetime of function, it doesn’t always end up that way. They may be lost from an accident, deep cavities, or gum disease. And since teeth start as a full set, even one missing tooth may disrupt the complex function of chewing, the first step in digestion. As teeth slowly lean and migrate into extra spaces, wear and cracking from excessive forces often create escalating problems.
When it’s time to replace missing teeth, whether it’s one or a full set, several options might be available to you. Dental implants often give you the best opportunity to enjoy normal chewing and a full smile, although all therapeutic possibilities deserve consideration.
Replacing missing teeth with implants brings your mouth back to full function and well-being.

“It’s a friendly, welcoming and stress free environment. From the candle in the reception area to the windows in the treatment rooms looking out on a garden, it feels very non-dentist like, which is actually a good thing. They addressed the issue I had come in for and didn’t try to upsell me on other unnecessary treatments. I actually found a dentist’s office that I like!”

This will depend on whether you’re having a single implant, a bridge, or even customized dentures created. Dental implant surgery usually takes between one and two hours per implant.
It depends on a few factors, most importantly the location and purpose of the extracted tooth and its aesthetic impact. If the missing tooth will affect your ability to chew or speak clearly, or create structural issues for the surrounding teeth, it needs to be replaced. If it’s in the front or side of your mouth, a replacement is generally recommended to maintain the symmetry of your smile.
If the tooth fell out on its own, there’s a good chance that there’s an underlying oral health issue that will only get worse if not addressed. Even if your tooth was removed by a dentist, leaving the gap can have several unwanted consequences. Your remaining teeth and jaw bone may be weakened by the gap in their support system, especially if bone had to be removed. Your teeth may also shift into the gap, changing your bite alignment. It might affect your ability to chew and speak. And, of course, there’s an aesthetic impact. Speak to your dentist about your tooth replacement options!
